What is the difference between enrolling in just the certification programs versus enrolling in an ICF Level 1 or ICF Level 2 program?

Certification programs are training programs. Once you complete any training program – Certified Life Coach, Certified Executive Coach, Certified Organizational Development Coach, or Certified NLP Coach – you receive a certificate from us. You also gain the training hours associated with that particular program. At that point, there is nothing else you need to do. You are a certified coach, you can launch your coaching practice, you are good to go.

Level 1 and Level 2 programs take it a step further. These programs are designed for coaches who, after getting trained/certified, also wish to get an ICF ACC or PCC credential. What they do, therefore, is take whichever training or certification program(s) you choose, and to those, they add all the other prerequisites for an ACC/PCC, including:

1. Mentoring Hours.
2. Access to a platform where you can gain coaching hours.
3. Required performance evaluation for the ACC/PCC Coach Knowledge Assessment Test.

Bottomline – if you just wish to get trained, certified, and start yout coaching practice, without worrying about an ACC or a PCC credential, simply enroll in our certification programs. If you are also interested in getting an ACC or PCC credential, enroll in our ICF Level 1 or ICF Level 2 programs.

Please note that the ICF considers standalone programs as partial completion of Level 1 or Level 2 programs, and requires all ICF accredited programs to mention this on all standalone program certificates.

How are these programs delivered?

Symbiosis Coaching strongly believes in using technology to deliver courses in a fully interactive, cost-effective and flexible manner.

Our ICF approved Certified Life Coach, Certified Organizational Development Coach, Certified Executive Coach, and Certified NLP Coach programs are all delivered live over the web. These are highly interactive programs that are offered in a virtual classroom – and you attend them from the convenience of your home. You can raise your hand and ask a question, participate in live class discussions, and collaborate with other students on class assignments in “breakout rooms”.

These programs also includes real life hands-on coaching experience, an extensive library of reference material and supplementary notes, and full support through and beyond the program.

Through the use of technology, we ensure that instead of you having to drive to your class, the class comes to you! And it is precisely because of our use of technology that we are able to keep our costs this low.

Interaction between students outside the class is a key part of our program as well. All students get access to our Facebook Group where they can interact with other students, exchange ideas, brainstorm and collaborate on projects.

How much do your programs cost?

We have four different ICF accredited programs that we offer. We also have ICF Level 1 and ICF Level 2 programs. The program fee depends on which program combination you choose. Here are the links that you can visit to find out the program fee for various program combinations:

Standalone certification programs: https://www.symbiosiscoaching.com/enroll

Where are you located?

We are a US company, and our head office is in the greater Boston area in Massachusetts, United States

Why is the Symbiosis fee so low compared to other Coaching schools?

Typical standalone Coach training programs cost anywhere between $5000.00 and $13000.00. Our prices are a fraction of that.

There are two big reasons that enable us to do this.

First, we use technolgy for all our functions. So, we do not have to maintain physical brick and mortar infrastructure to host our programs. And we pass on those cost savings directly to our students.

The second factor is our business model. Organizations that charge $10,000 for a training program make their money if they are able to enroll 5-7 students per class. By keeping our programs affordable for everyone, we are able to enroll more students and we make our money that way. But in the process, we make sure that cost is never a hindrance for anyone who wishes to enroll in our programs.

We also do not indulge in “course padding”, i.e., adding irrelevant lectures and/or “seminars” that sound good on a website or in a brochure, but do not add any value either to the program or to your coaching practice. An ICF approved program is an ICF approved program! It covers all the Core Coaching Competencies defined by the ICF. So there is no justification for charging astronomical fees.

Can I take multiple programs in parallel?

Yes absolutely! We schedule our programs such that they are offered on different days of the week. So you can take these classes in parallel, and complete multiple programs together,

What are your class timings?

No matter which program you enroll in, all classes are once a week, for 2-hours. If you visit any of our program pages, you can click on the “Class Schedule” button to view the schedule for all classes.

What happens if I miss a class for some work related or personal reason?

That is not a problem at all, and in-fact a great advantage of virtual classes. All our live classes are recorded as well. So if you happen to miss a class because you are traveling, or you are unwell, or have a wedding to attend – simply download the class recording for that week and listen to it.

Can I change my class time after enrolling?

Yes, absolutely! For every class, we have three different class times you can choose from. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to attend your regular class during any week, you simply attend one of the other two classes. So, there’s complete flexibility.

How can I know for sure if your program - or that of another school - is indeed approved by the ICF?

There is only one way to know – and that is to look directly on the “Training Program”search on the ICF site itself.

You may view our ICF approval by visiting the ICF Training Program Search Service, typing in “Symbiosis” (without the quotes) into the “Training Organization” field and clicking on the Search button. You may have to scroll up on the screen on the results page depending on the browser you are using.

BEWARE! There are a lot of unscrupulous companies out there that use confusing terminology to make it sound like their programs are approved by the ICF when they are not. The ONLY way to confirm is by going to the ICF Training Program Search page.

Which countries do your students come from?

Our program is a truly International program and our ICF approval is a testament to our International standing. Our students are truly global as well. Our students come from all corners of the globe including United States, Canada, India, Lebanon, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Romania, South Africa, Australia, Malaysia, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Mongolia, Maldives, Jamaica, Bahamas to name just a few countries.

Your live program is delivered over the web. Isn't a face to face class better?

Interestingly, the answer to that question is – No!

While at first glance, it may first seem that a traditional class where the student physically drives to his/her class location might have more value, in the case of Life Coaching, a virtual class is much better. Why? Here are just some of the reasons:

– When you start a coaching practice, over 95% of it will be done virtually – over the phone or Skype. So it is critical to get used to this format.

– Most face to face classes are of a shorter duration – 5 to 10 days. What that means is that there is absolutely no chance for you to get real world coaching experience – which is the most critical component of any coach training program. We are able to stay away from accelerated programs. Out principle is – do it right rather than quick.

– A virtual class offers features that a face to face class cannot – for example, easy class rescheduling as well as lifetime access to downloaded class recordings.

– With a virtual class, we can hire the very best teachers, no matter where in the world they are located! So you get access to the most qualified instructors who bring a wealth of real life coaching experience into the classroom.

– Virtual classes are more cost-effective! Better learning delivered to you at a more affordable price.

Ten years ago, web based tools weren’t fast enough to compete with face to face training. Today, there is absolutely no reason for busy individuals to have to physically go to a classroom to attend world-class training. Unless you are taking a class that absolutely requires face to face interaction – say cooking or wine-tasting or a lab-based biology class – virtual classes are the way to go.

Now, there are many companies out there who will try to sell you a more expensive program by touting the virtue of face time. In such situations, it is worthwhile to remember that even the International Coach Federation (ICF) does not differentiate between a class delivered face to face and one delivered over the net/telephone, as long as both are delivered live.

I do not have a credit card. Can I pay through a direct Wire transfer?

Absolutely. Using the “Buy Now” button to pay for your program is the quickest way to enroll. And it is 100% secure since all payments are handled by PayPal. However, if you do not have a credit card, we also accept wire transfers. It is very easy and takes about 10 minutes. Please call us or email us for wire transfer details.

I have a non-US credit card. Can I still pay my fee with it?

Absolutely.

Remember – you are ALWAYS charged in your local currency.

When you use your non-US credit card, the card company automatically pays us in dollars, and bills you in equivalent local currency. So when you receive your monthly credit card bill, you will – as always – see your charge in local currency.

Is it possible to build a career and make a good living being a coach?

There is a huge need for Life Coaches, Executive Coaches, Organizational Development Coaches, and NLP Coaches around the world and very few qualified and certified Coaches to fulfill that need. That means that coaches are in great demand. According to recent surveys, entry-level Life Coaches earn between $75.00 and $100.00 an hour, whereas more experienced coaches can charge over $500.00 an hour. The rates depend on many factors, including your coaching niche, whether you coach individuals or corporate clients, and whether your clients are local or international. Regardless, Life Coaching is an extremely rewarding profession – both personally and financially.

How do I know if Coaching is right for me?

Ask yourself the following questions and if the answer is YES, then Life Coaching IS right for you:

– Do you like people?
– Do you want financial independence?
– Are you a good listener?
– Do you desire to work at a job you love?
– Do you easily develop a rapport with others?
– Do you enjoy helping others?
– Do you want to make a difference in the world?
– Do you want to continue to grow spiritually and professionally?

Can I coach part time?

Absolutely. In fact, we recommend it. Set aside a few hours a week for your coaching clients, but keep your day job. Then, as you start getting more clients, you can begin to devote more time to your practice. At that point, you can opt to become a full-time coach, or you can continue coaching part time and earning that extra money.

Can I interact with other students while I am enrolled in the program?

Absolutely! Our students and alumni are in constant touch with each other through telephone, email, and our Facebook group. They constantly brainstorm, exchange ideas and even work on projects together. In short, you are an integral part of the Symbiosis student community.

Is coaching considered therapy or counseling?

Coaching is NOT like therapy or counseling although Coaching does draw from a diverse range of disciplines. Coaching is more concerned with results rather than understanding or processing. Therefore, there is a strong focus on action. Coaching makes its focus on the future rather than the past.

Coaching is about working under the assumption that every individual that we are coaching already has all the answers that they require within his/herself. The primary job of the Coach is to help the client tap into the deep resource that they already own to find the appropriate answers to the areas of their life that is just not working for them. It is very important to remember that the Coaching Session is an ‘advice-free zone

Are there any prerequisites to becoming a Coach?

There are no prerequisites to becoming a Coach. People from all different backgrounds – IT professionals, HR Professionals, Housewives, Sales & Marketing professionals, Doctors, Counselors, Teachers, Training Professionals and many more – become successful Life Coaches.

However, there are some minimum guidelines:

– Legal age of consent;
– Ability to attend lectures in English;
– Willingness to assist others;
– Empathy, compassion toward others.

If you have questions about your eligibility to become a coach, please contact us and we will be happy to speak with you.

Is there one coaching model that I must adhere to?

Absolutely not. We firmly believe that the face of coaching is an ever-evolving profession.

The ICF has defined a set of Core Coaching Competencies that all coaches must have, no matter which coaching niche they are practicing in. Our programs follow these core coaching competencies.

Do coaches specialize?

Although many Coaches prefer to keep their options open, a great many coaches do choose to focus on a particular niche’ in the marketplace.

Business, Executive, Motivational, Wellness, Relationship, Career, Confidence, Self-Esteem, and Spirituality are just a few areas of specialty that we can mention here. The list is endless and you are only held by your imagination and your interests.

Deciding on if a specialty niche is right for you, and discovering just what that niche should be is part of your learning experience in the program.

If I cancel my program, will I receive a refund?

A full-refund (less any PayPal/bank/other transaction fee) is granted if student withdraws more than three days before the class start date.

A full refund, less $250.00 (plus any PayPal/bank/other transaction fee) is granted if student withdraws three days to a day prior to the class start date.

Starting on the day the class begins, there are no refunds.

Will I receive the support that I need when doing the course?

Yes. As our student you are never alone!

Students can contact our support team at any time should there be any questions, whatsoever. We offer complete support to all our students not just while they are enrolled in our program but also once they have graduated. As a Symbiosis Coaching student, you are never alone!

We also have a Help Desk that you can use for day to day support issues.

The Certified life Coach program is an essential program for anyone considering coaching as a profession. The goal of this program is to create a deep understanding of the coaching process, along with how and why it is effective in catalyzing shifts in the mindset to create positive, sustainable transformation.

The training is based on the ICF’s core coaching competencies. It focuses on skills that lead to effective coaching conversations and that are required to build a successful coaching business. It evokes awareness about how identity, thoughts, and feelings determine mindset; and why a change in Think Feel Do impacts the achievement of goals though a change in this mindset.

This program is approved by the International Coaching Federation for 95 hours and comprises 24 live, instructor led, fully interactive virtual sessions offered over Zoom. These lectures cover all aspects of coaching – topics such as Human Emotions and the Brain, Coaching through Emotional Intelligence, The Belief System, Coaching Process and Structure, Deep Listening, Setting Worthy Goals, Asking Insightful Questions, Addressing Client Resistance, Coaching Groups, The Business of Coaching, and many more. These are complemented with a library of reading and reference material, coaching challenges based on various real-life coaching situations, extensive hands-on coaching practice, and assignments designed to trigger reflection on and mastery of coaching skills.
